NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE (NIS) SYSTEM UPGRADE
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kyiv, Ukraine (resident in Vilnius, Lithuania) wishes to inform all Nigerian nationals residing in Ukraine, Lithuania, Georgia, Latvia, and Estonia that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is currently undertaking critical upgrades to its systems. These enhancements, while necessary for long-term service improvement, may temporarily affect the passport production process.
2. The Mission, therefore, wishes to advise applicants, especially those travelling from outside Vilnius for biometric acquisition, to factor in the possibility of extended processing times. The acquisition and documentation process may span beyond the normal waiting period, and applicants are encouraged to plan their travel and accommodation accordingly.
3. The general public is reminded that consular services at the Embassy are available strictly from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, Mondays to Thursdays only. All applicants must book appointments in advance via the Embassy’s official website before visiting the Chancery.
4. In addition, applicants are also advised to come along with copies of their uploaded documents, including the certificate of identification from their State/Local Government of origin, please. Applicants are to note that, in line with this new government policy, passports are now produced in Nigeria and thereafter forwarded to the Embassy via courier service for distribution.
5. The Embassy sincerely regrets any inconvenience these disruptions may cause and assures all applicants that efforts are underway to ensure a timely resolution.
